Thanksgiving In Las Vegas

With the end of 2016 in the horizon, we decided that we needed to go on another trip. Sean's job as a dispatcher for Directv has come to an end as AT&T whom just recently purchased the company made the decision to close the Phoenix dispatch office. With this news, we decided that since our 15th wedding anniversary was actually on Thanksgiving this year and our 1 year anniversary for Campfire Shenanigans blog why not hitch up our travel trailer and head to Las Vegas. Two days before we were supposed to hit the road, Sean's suv decided it was a great time to ask its owner for a new set of tires. (Ok, maybe it wasn't so nice in its asking) much to our surprise, we were driving with the incorrect air pressure for three years. We had always used the sticker on the door which in our case was 32lbs psi for Passenger rated tires. Purchasing the truck used, we were not aware that we had LT tires of a different size that needed to be inflated to 52lbs psi. Just our luck the tire shop did not have our size in stock. So Sean went to have them installed the next day, and 4 hours later here we are. We were able to take advantage of a promotion that KOA was having allowing us stay four nights. The KOA at Sam's Town in Las Vegas actually has two seperate campgrounds. We opted for a space with a patio on the north side. The actual space we were in was a little tight, our slide out was overhanging into a neighboring site but we were lucky to not have a neighbor on that side our entire stay. Only other issue was the location of the northside spaces. We could not make a left hand turn and go back to the hotel. They did have a back gate that was only open during the day that allowed easier access. There was a Super Walmart directly accross from us, so grocery shopping was not a problem. We celebrated Thanksgiving with a feast at the Sam's Town Hotel buffet. If you sign up for their rewards program, you get about $5 off per person. The KOA was approx 7 miles away from the iconic strip. Some of the large hotel chains are now starting to charge for parking. We moved once to avoid one of the fees. For future reference, there is a hotel shuttle that will take you for free. The kids enjoyed seeing a movie and going bowling. Alexis, although using bumbers and a little help was able to rack up 98 points. One of the days, we had lunch at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. which is based off of the movie, Forrest Gump. The kids had no idea what the movie was, time to bring out the old vcr and play the video tape. We met up with Rebecca's cousin and her twin boys for lunch at the food court at Ceaser's Palace. And what's a trip to Vegas with out a stop at the Paris Hotel for our oldest Shara who is in love with Paris France and is learning the language in school. It was a little difficult driving home as Northern Arizona was bracing for a heavy winter storm and we had high wind advisories the entire trip home. We made it home safely and shortly after we parked the trailer in the storage facility, it poored. Until next time, Happy Holidays from our family to yours.
